Sojourn Is Evolving
From personal reflections to strategic interpretations.
Hello and Happy 2026!
I wanted to share an update on how Sojourn is evolving.
What began as a place for personal reflection is becoming a publication focused on strategic interpretation of the future of travel and hospitality. Going forward, one issue each week will remain free, while additional issues will be reserved for paid subscribers. It’s a change I’ve been thinking about for a while, and one I’m genuinely excited about, because it allows the work to go deeper and the reader experience to become more intentional.
The beginning
Sojourn started in June 2025 as a space to explore travel, hospitality, identity, and how we experience places. Over time, something became very clear: what many of you find most useful in my work isn’t just the topics themselves, but how they’re interpreted: how things connect, how patterns start to emerge, and how the industry is slowly being reshaped.
Because of that, Sojourn is evolving.
Starting today, Sojourn is moving from personal reflection to strategic interpretation as a publication focused on the future of travel and hospitality. Going forward, Sojourn will publish carefully edited, easy to digest editorial briefings designed to make sense of what’s changing in the industry, and why it matters.
A new rhythm
In practice, this means there will always be one free Sojourn issue each week, available to everyone, with one or two additional issues weekly published for paid subscribers. The free edition will remain a consistent weekly briefing, while the deeper and more frequent analysis will live behind the paywall.
In practical terms, that means:
More analysis of the brands, hotels, and platforms shaping what’s next
More interpretations of cultural, business, and design signals
More short, structured briefings that connect multiple ideas into one point of view
More ways to interact with Sojourn through comments and discussion.
For those who know, the conversations that form around these ideas are often as valuable as the writing itself. I want Sojourn to be a place where more of that can happen. Being able to engage with you in the comments section will also help me write better for Sojourn.
Why some of this is paid
Sojourn is paid because it’s not a feed or a roundup.
It’s interpretation, analysis, and judgment, and that kind of work only really works when there’s time, focus, and people who care about going deeper. LinkedIn will always remain where I share finished ideas and perspectives. Sojourn is where that thinking is developed and edited, in easy to digest editorial briefings.
What Sojourn covers
Every issue interprets how culture, identity, and business are reshaping travel and hospitality — and what it means for brands, operators, investors, and builders.
It covers:
Hospitality and hotel brands
Travel and experience design
Culture, identity, and taste
Business models and positioning
How people choose where to go, stay, and belong
This is not news or trend reporting. It’s interpretation and strategic context.
Thank you
To thank everyone who’s been reading and engaging with the work, I’m offering 40% off the annual subscription through the end of the weekend. This is the lowest annual rate Sojourn will offer. If you’re already a paid subscriber, nothing changes, your access continues without interruption.
Thank you for being here and see you soon.
